Education has always been a priority in the construction of our society. A majority of people who have not been lucky and are deprived of education, are unemployed and their scope for a better future diminishes.

Why is quality education always been an important aspect in today’s society?

The reason to this can be many. In brief, education directly deals with the issues like human rights, gender awareness, awareness of sports and reproductive health, and is expected to perform well in meeting these objectives.

Furthermore, if parents send their children to school and if they are satisfied with the quality of education, training and lessons being provided to them, it reveals the fact that the level of education being offered to the children is worth the cost and time spent on them. The fundamental role school plays in the growth and development of a child is to make them capable enough so that they can achieve their own economic, social and cultural objectives. It helps society get a better protection and makes it better served by its leaders. And it will only be possible if education being offered to everyone is of highest quality. Schooling helps enhancing creativity of the children and help them acquire new skills, knowledge and values necessary for a responsible and productive citizenship. In simpler words, the fundamental of education is a set of processes and outcomes that are defined qualitatively.

Quality education is directly proportional to the cost associated with the education. In an attempt to maintain the level of education and have it availed to the students at a decent cost, Tamil Nadu’s government stated in its policy 2009-10 for higher education that, “Expanding the access to higher education to all at affordable cost and ensuring the quality of education are the aims of this government.” It does not only implemented various schemes to expand its access by introducing shift system in the science and arts colleges but also introducing short term specialized courses in the colleges at lower fee structure that can be pursued along with the main degree course. Raising the quality of education while keeping the cost decent leads to a considerable increase in the number of students enrolling for higher studies.
