Nandigram Violence Effect on Schools and Students
January 28, 2009 – 6:35 pmEducation has been regulated as a fundamental right in schools, but the plight of education in India is still heartfelt. Nandigram violence episodes point towards the devastation that war brings. The daily chronological activities are disturbed, students are fearful of going to schools, kids experience memory loss, while few try to cope up with the harsh realities.
A CRY report states the bitter realities of Nandigram and its imprints on the students’ psyche. The report says that students in Nandigram are severely affected by the violence that has made a negative impact on students and schools. The classes are not held regularly and with police occupying the laboratories, open grounds become the student’s science laboratories. The major part of the school premises have been occupied by the police, with a little of what remained with the students and teachers.
The psychological setup of students is no good either. The tender aged kids who witnessed the murder of their family members are in an unbalanced state of mind, many choked and mute. They agree that the Nandigram violence has severely affected their education and study patterns.
Education in India has witnessed an immense growth. But the education scenario in Nandigram is also one concern that is still not dealt with. Perhaps the end of violence is the end of this educational mayhem, but till then, will we just be mute spectators?
