Delhi Metro Earns Over Rs 1 crore In A Day on Tuesday

The daily passenger revenue of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday crossed over Rs 1 crore. The earnings of the metro stood at Rs 1,05,10,309 on Monday.

A senior official of DMRC said that the maximum earning was from the Indraprastha - Dwarka route that earned over Rs 43 lakh from passenger revenue. “While from the Dilshad Garden-Rithala route, the earning was over Rs 35 lakh, on the underground line Central Secretariat-Vishwavidhyalaya it was around Rs 26 lakh,” the senior official said.

The DMRC said that the ridership was 7.95 lakh on Monday. In 2007, DMRC revenue earnings stood at Rs 7.3 billion. Earlier, a study conducted by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) said that the Revenue earnings of the DMRC were likely to touch Rs 21 billion ($500 million) in the next three years, an increase of 194 per cent. The study said that through rentals alone, DMRC’s revenue generation from leading corporate outlets and ATMs would go beyond Rs 8.5 billion and through sale of tickets, DMRC is expected to earn nearly Rs 7 billion.
