India to boost educational ties with Qatar

December 7, 2009 – 4:03 pm

India is all set to tie an educational bond with Qatar, according to the reports. Explaining it further, a senior Indian embassy official in Qatar told that there were some concrete educational plans proposed to the Qatri officials by T K S Nair, the principal secretary of the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during his visit to Qatar.

Upon recalling, the mission official added further that the Indian delegation led by Nair had proposed some educational offers to the Qatri officials during their visit to Qatar last month. The  meeting among the officials of both the countries was conducted to throw some light on “green light” project, which is about setting up the first overseas education campus (IIT campus) in Qatar.  The proposed institute is expected to be a joint venture of Indian as well as Qatri governments.

Furthermore, the official did not say much and had no information on the report of a new move in which Hyderabad-based International Business School is expected to have its branch campus setup in Qatar. Upon asking more about the report, the official only said, “Our only source of information at this juncture is the report appeared in the Indian newspaper. If it materialises, that’s just as fine for India’s educational front.”
